East Midland Air-Conditioning Energy Assessment.
Supercool Central Ltd has now set up the above named trading arm to carryout Non-Domestic Low Carbon Air Conditioning Energy Assessments.
Peter Matthews is now qualified as an Air-conditioning Energy Assessor (DipACEA Level 3) and is accredited with BRE Certification.
EMAEA can offer its clients a top quality and highly professional Air-conditioning Energy Assessment service in accordance with the Department of Communities and Local Government Guidelines and the Energy Performamce of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007.
With over 30 years of hands-on refrigeration and air-condtioning engineering experience, Peter really knows his way around air condtioning systems. He will not only assess the current usage of your air conditioning and any problems you may be having with the equipment, but also offer solutions to make the system(s) more energy efficient, more environmentally friendly and importantly more cost effective.
On the 4th January 2003 the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union published Directive 2002/91/EC on the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPBD). This requires Member States to bring into force 'the necessary laws, regulations and administrative provisions to comply with the Directive'. Article 9 requires Member States to introduce measures to establish a regular inspection of air-conditioning systems.
The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates & Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 implemented Articles 7 - 9 of the Directive. They require inspection of all air conditioning systems with rated outputs over 12 kW at intervals not greater than 5 years. Systems over 250 kW should have completed their first inspection by January 2009 and for the remaining systems over 12 kW they had until January 2011 to comply.
Organisations that have not yet complied with these new regualtions should be aware that there are now over 200 Trading Standards Offices (TSOs) throughout the UK, 165 in England and Wales, that have been directed to carry-out enforcement on this issue. The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) now allocates £1.9m per year to local authorities to specifically fund TSOs in enforcing these EPBD Regulations .
Air-conditioning Energy Assessments are designed to improve efficiency and reduce the energy consumption, operating costs and carbon emissions of the system(s). They will also highlight improvements to the operation of the existing system(s) and/or oppurtunities to replace less energy efficient systems or oversized systems with new energy efficient systems to save you money.
If you wish to find out more about this service and more importantly your responsibilities if you have air-conditioning on any one site with a total manufacturers output rated above 12 kW and have not yet had an Air-conditioning Energy Assessment carried out.
